🌳 Root Ball Hedging Spotlight: Red & White Cedar 🌳

A firm favourite for many landscapers and gardeners due to its versatile nature, dense cover and gentle price points.

Thuja occidentalis and plicata differ in several ways so check out the information in the post to see which variety is best suited to your needs.

Unlike Cupressus leylandii, cedar avoids having a bad reputation and is aesthetically more pleasing.

Whilst Thuja plicata can reach heights of more than 15m it is easily clipped to keep its shape.

Similarly Thuja occidentalis can be kept in with gentle pruning in early spring.

If you are looking for the instant effect and a hedging option that is both easy and economical then either of the cedar varieties will do the job! ✅

After a long hot dry summer the recent change in weather has been most welcome!

And now really is the perfect time to start planning any large shrub planting while the soil has plenty of warmth, has eased a bit with recent rain (although we still need more!) and the temperature remains in double figures throughout the day.

If you are looking for something impactful and easy to maintain we’ve got loads to choose from at Folium & Flos. 🌳🌳🌳

We are open to trade and the public Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm and Saturday 10am - 3pm

Your Ideal Planting Window is here! 🌿🍃

Autumn into winter (October to March) is by far the best time to consider landscaping implementation across both commercial and residential projects.

Getting plans laid out and physical works carried out during this time will leverage valuable, natural seasonal advantages that container grown spring trees and shrubs simply cannot match.

We are taking pre-orders now for all autumn planting lines including root ball and bare root stock. Growers will begin lifting in October and we’ll be taking weekly deliveries right through autumn and winter.

Key advantages for autumn planting:

🌳Good root establishment before summer
🌡️Cooler temperatures minimise transplant stress
☔️Natural rainfall reduces watering requirements
☀️Better preparation before the heat of summer arrives.
⏳Ideal time to source root ball and bare root stock. 💰These are usually cheaper and physically easier to plant, especailly in large numbers.

All enquiries via email or by phone will be dealt with promptly.
